Accessible Educational Materials Center

Pennsylvania students unable to use textbooks and educational materials in the traditional way may need accessible educational materials (AEM) to have meaningful and equal access to the general education curriculum. Such access is guaranteed in federal education statutes, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Pennsylvania Special Education Regulations: Chapter 14 for school districts and Chapter 711 for charter schools. 

The PaTTAN AEM Center produces: 

• Braille  
• Large Print 
• Formatted PDF (digital version)  

Keep in mind that production times can vary depending on the time of year and the format requested. Please anticipate at least 6 weeks for production. 

Did you know that students with qualifying print-access disabilities can access to Bookshare for free? Bookshare is considered the largest library for accessible materials and offers reading options that cater to different learning needs and preferences. Accessible books are available in a variety of formats including digital, audio, braille, and large print.
