Engaging Families in the IEP Process: A Guide for Schools  https://www.pattan.net/Publications/Engaging-Families-in-the-IEP-Process-A-Guide-for-S

This publication explores how schools can reframe the IEP process and take active steps to include families as educational partners. When families are not just involved, but actively engaged, students achieve better grades, higher test scores, and increased graduation rates.

A family-friendly explanation of each section of the IEP is included, as well as considerations and conversation starters for use at the IEP team meeting.

Paraprofessionals’ Roles in Family Education: A Key to Student Success

Students achieve great results when they are supported by families and educators taking an active role in their education. Paraprofessionals have a unique role in a student’s life as they provide many opportunities to help students across the day. Participants will learn best practices, the importance of family engagement to students’ success, and how to do their part each day in the classroom. As with all interactions with students, families, staff, and your community, please refer to your LEA’s policies and procedures for guidance. We aim for you to learn new information, clarify prior learning, and affirm previous conversations in this session. (1 hour)
