Success for PA Early Learners (SPEL)

Success for PA Early Learners (SPEL) logoThe Success for PA Early Learners grant, or SPEL,  aims to support schools in strengthening connections between schools and families, building foundational literacy skills, and promoting continuity of transition services for students moving from Early Intervention to school-age learning. The grant is designed to support educational systems in Pennsylvania that serve economically disadvantaged early learners at risk for, or identified with, a delay or disability through a Comprehensive System of Personnel Development.

SPEL is funded by the federal Office of Special Education Programs through Pennsylvania's Department of Education. Two state offices work together to run the program: the Bureau of Special Education and the Bureau of Early Intervention Services and Family Supports. This partnership recognizes the vital role of families in their children's education. SPEL provides resources, professional development, and consultative services for schools to improve educational outcomes for children, as well as seeking to equip families with tools and resources to help their children successfully transition into elementary school.
