Federal law requires that all students, even students with the most significant cognitive disabilities, have access to the general education curriculum and be provided with standards aligned instruction and assessments. Teachers of these diverse learners need instructional resources and accessible content that supports meaningful learning. Learn how PA Dynamic Learning Maps system of assessment, instructional resources, and on-demand professional development supports professionals in separate settings in their daily planning and instructional decision making. This professional development is for teachers and/or administrators and is designed to be shared in turnaround training in the school by attendees.

Objectives

At the end of this training, participants will:

  • Understand the transition to and value of Dynamic Learning Maps as an instructional resource to support and improve access to standards aligned instruction for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
  • Identify key terminology of DLM.
  • Understand how instruction in mathematics, reading, writing, and science affects post-secondary opportunities.
  • Identify alignment of Essential Elements (EEs) to PA Core standards and PA STEELS standards for purposes of providing standards aligned instruction.
