Forbes has released several albums and EPs, including "Perfect Imperfection" and "Little Victories," which quickly hit #1 on several top music charts. Self described as "deaf and loud," Forbes incorporates American Sign Language (ASL) into his music and often collaborates with other deaf artists. Forbes is also the co-founded the Deaf Professional Arts Network (DPAN), a nonprofit organization that makes music and music culture accessible for the deaf and hard of hearing community. D-PAN has produced several music videos featuring deaf performers, including an ASL interpretation of Eminem's "Lose Yourself," which Forbes performed himself. DPAN now provides a wide range of media production services with a focus on ASL access. Aiming to inspire others to chase their dreams, Forbes has performed hundreds of live shows in which he shares his music, stories, and message about chasing dreams.

The session will provide steps to identify and select evaluative tools and how to use the data collected to craft instructional recommendations. Based on the ‘science’ of reading (reading research) this session will demonstrate how the team will review data gathered, review and analyze evidence based instructional programs and then match the child´s skill needs with the specific instructional components to craft a targeted and focused reading approach that meets the child´s specific strengths and needs.

Many Communication Plans state the student who is deaf or hard of hearing utilizes Pidgin Sign English (PSE) as their primary mode of receptive communication. PSE is rich and complex, and is often used in complicated communication environments including elementary, middle, high schools and college level classrooms. Educational interpreters must analyze content and materials to be used in order to order to predict the variety of discourse structures that a teacher might use in a given lesson. This “hands-on” workshop will provide participants with examples of high quality effective interpretations presented in PSE in the educational setting, as well as, opportunities to interpret similar classroom content using PSE.
