Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis: Evidence-Based Early Intervention Teaching Practices

This training will focus on the application of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles as a foundation for instruction of young children. The sessions will include an overview of positive behavior supports and ABA teaching procedures. Definitions and examples demonstrating a variety of behavioral teaching strategies that can be used to teach skills across all domains will be examined. This training will require two days of participation by all attendees. Day one of the training will focus on the core principles of ABA and participants recognizing the scientific and technological nature of the practices. Following the first session, participants will implement strategies in their own work with children and collect data to be analyzed during the second session. Part two will involve participants demonstrating the use of ABA practices in designing instruction for young children. Handouts available to print: 1-Powerpoint slides: These are the slides that will be presented at Day 1 of the training. 2-Resource handout: This handout provides steps to using positive reinforcement with children and youth. 3-Resource: This is a homework assignment for Day 1. 4-Resource: This handout has examples for monitoring progress. 5-Powerpoint slides: These are the slides that will be presented at Day 2 of the training.

What's New in the PA Learning Standards for Early Childhood

The Pennsylvania Learning Standards for Early Childhood were revised in July 2014. All Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) funded programs must start using the revised standards in July 2015. This training will provide teams with information about these revisions as well as discuss how the standards can support and enhance service delivery. In addition, teams will be provided with resources to share this information with their programs and families.
