One of the biggest issues facing school-based Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) is caseload management. Developing consistent eligibility criteria, based on special education law and current research, may help to alleviate school-based SLPs’ caseload woes. Participants will discuss and develop strategies to support SLPs in making eligibility decisions. Networking opportunities will be provided for discussions, questions, and sharing of ideas and resources.
Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- State current laws and research related to speech-language eligibility
- State current caseload issues that SLPs face in school-based settings
- Describe an example eligibility plan for speech-language services
