Participants will apply content from previous online learning related to Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI) and Caregiver Coaching specifically to address challenging behavior from a developmental-behavioral framework promoting meaningful engagement in family-guided routines. Participants will identify the underlying factors leading to young children’s challenging behavior and learn practical intervention strategies to use when coaching caregivers to build their competence and confidence in supporting their children’s social emotional and communication development.

Objectives

Participants will:

1. Identify child social emotional and communication skills that promote meaningful engagement in family-guided routines.
2. Define challenging behavior and discuss the underlying child needs that lead to challenging behavior.
3. List and describe social emotional and communication intervention strategies to address building skills needed for meaningful engagement in family-guided routines.
4. Discuss and Implement ways to apply caregiver coaching strategies to build family capacity to embed social emotional and communication intervention strategies.

Target Audience

This training is limited to Endorsed Pa Early Intervention Coaches (Special Instructors, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists).
