The purpose of this course is to ensure that district administrators, principals and teacher leaders develop a strong understanding of the conditions necessary for sustainable implementation of structured literacy methods. Grounded in implementation science, the conference will outline the enabling contexts (infrastructure) that support effective structured literacy delivery in the context of MTSS. Participants will engage in peer-to-peer learning in sessions delivered by expert educators actively engaged in structured literacy implementation. Conference sessions will focus on the leadership skills, science aligned resources and evidence-based practices necessary to promote district/building level collaboration and ongoing professional learning to affect systems change and improve student outcomes. Leaders will be able to describe the key elements involved in structured literacy implementation to assist them in determining what gaps may exist in their own settings, and what steps can be taken to build more robust implementation capacity.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- lead the development of a shared vision and culture for effective Structured Literacy implementation (Core I; Corollary I & III).
- identify and develop the essential enabling conditions (infrastructure) needed for structured literacy implementation (Core III; Corollary II).
- identify and address key issues that are specific to their district characteristics that require targeted consideration and action for successful Structured Literacy implementation (Core I & III; Corollary II).
